GrayHouse Poll: Voters Strongly Back Trump's Ban on Institutional Investors Buying Single-Family Homes

A new GrayHouse national survey finds broad support for President Trump's announced ban on large institutional investors purchasing single-family homes. Overall, 58% of registered voters support the proposal while just 22% oppose it, a net of +36 points.

The policy draws particularly strong backing from Republicans, with 74% in support and a net favorability of +62. Independents closely mirror the national average at 58% support (+37 net). Even Democrats are narrowly favorable toward the ban, with 43% supporting versus 35% opposed (+8 net).

The survey of 1,500 registered voters was conducted January 7-10, 2026 with a margin of error of +/- 2.5%.
