POLITICO's New York Playbook PM featured GrayHouse polling today in its lead story on the Republican primary to succeed Rep. Elise Stefanik in New York's 21st Congressional District. Our poll of 500 likely GOP primary voters found Anthony Constantino leading Assemblymember Robert Smullen by 27 points — 43 percent to 16 percent — with 41 percent still undecided. The survey, commissioned by the Constantino campaign, was shared exclusively with Playbook ahead of publication.
The story by Emily Ngo highlighted the poll as part of a deep profile on Constantino, the self-funding Sticker Mule CEO who has loaned his campaign $7.6 million and does not accept donations. Beyond the ballot test, our survey found that 70 percent of NY-21 Republicans prefer a political outsider with real-world business experience over a candidate who has served in elected office. Constantino also holds a significant favorability advantage, with a +35 net favorable rating among likely primary voters compared to +13 for Smullen.
