Landon Wall, founder of GrayHouse, contributed an in-depth analysis to 1912 WT on the evolving suburban political landscape in Arizona.

The piece examines the explosive suburban growth Arizona has experienced over the last two decades, and how that growth — coupled with rising college-educated populations, migration from blue states, and shifts among Latino voters — has fundamentally changed the state’s political battlegrounds.

Wall explains how Arizona Republicans, once dominant in the suburbs, have seen margins erode over the last decade:

"Just a decade ago, Republicans held a strong grip on Arizona’s suburbs... However, in 2022, Republicans would win the suburbs by just 4%, an 8% leftward shift from 2012."

He emphasizes the critical need for Republicans to rebuild a coalition between the party's rural base and enough suburban voters to win statewide contests in 2024 and beyond.

The piece also highlights encouraging signs for Republicans heading into the 2024 elections, including polling data showing suburban concerns over inflation, immigration, and crime — issues where voters currently trust Republican candidates more than Democrats.
