Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games Continues It’s Success
When fans heard that Nintendo icon Mario and Sega icon Sonic the Hedgehog would finally appear in the same game, they went nuts. However many would be a little disappointed that it would be a mini-game compiliation.
Despite the slight let down, fans of both franchises found it in them selves to propel the title to 5 million copies sold. The sales number includes both versions of the game on the Wii and DS. With the Wii version arriving last year and the DS just being released this year, Sega doesn’t feel that the game will be stopping anytime soon:
“There have only been three months so far and the Olympics themselves are another four months away. We’re expecting to sell quite a few million more globally, hopefully between now and the end of this year. This reinforces what we’ve firmly believed - that there is a huge opportunity on the Wii and the DS to get some breakout hits, especially exploiting our intellectual properties.”
