Next Generation Line Rider for Wii and DS Still Alive

With it being an entire year since hearing any news of the Line Rider projects for Wii and DS, many fans assumed the worst. Announcing the games back in 2006, InXile Entertainment has finally commented on the status of its Line Rider games. InXile stated that while they may have been quiet about the projects, they are still very much in development. In fact, testers have been actively playing it for months.

But along with the good news, comes some bad. It would seem that instead of the spring release date many had hoped for, the title is releasing in the summer months. Though, I’m sure all of us would agree “Better late than never,” at least in the video gaming industry.

If you could do this with the original, I wonder what is possible in the next generation titles.

Details for the title are scarce, but it is known that the two games are very closely tied to the PC titles. “The PC and Wii versions will have similar features,” said InXile Producer Andrei Passioukov. “Overall the game will be the next generation Line Rider. It will have a lot more features and options than the original Flash version, and will appeal to both newcomers and hardcore Line Rider players.”

Speaking specifically on the Wii version, the title seems better suited for a WiiWare release. Basing the game off its predecessor, it should be small enough to fit as a WiiWare download without taking up much space on the Wii’s internal memory.
