Maxis Producer Talks About Spore, Wii Version Announced

Caryl Shaw, a Maxis producer sat down and talked with Revogamers.com about the new survival evolution title for the Mac, PC, Wireless, Nintendo DS, and now the Wii. Infact, one of the first things Shaw talked about was it’s release for the Wii. He said that the game will not be released with the others, and that the reason they have no date for it is because it is still in the early stages of development.

As for the other home consoles, Shaw says that that is still just in exploration. The creator of Spore, Will Wright, is extremly excited about bringing his game to the Wii, but right now is focusing on making the best possible PC game.

Forget having a normal community. Spore is all about customization.

Shaw also talked about how the game would play it’s multiplayer modes. The idea of trading different creatures among systems was mentioned but the task would be nearly impossible due to different online servers for different systems. Speaking specifically on the DS and Wireless versions, Lucy Bradshaw, Spore’s Executive Producer, stated that “DS players will be able to share stuff with DS players via local network and Wi-Fi. For the mobile version, people can see the cells others have created and fight between them. We’ve been impressed at all the stuff that our teams have done.”

As it seems, the game is still very much being developed and alot of the teams ideas have yet to be incorporated. The half year that they postponed the title will surely benefit the game in many ways and give the developers that extra time to perfect it.
